Actually, science never addresses the existence or non-existence of any deity of any kind. All that science does is try to explain the natural world by looking at the evidence and finding solutions that fit all of the evidence.

The religious right just does not understand science, which does not surprise me since monotheist religious leadership likes an uneducated populace.....it's easier to control.

But people need to learn to separate religion and science. one is for explaining our place in the universe and the other is for explaining the process of how the universe works.

There is probably no way they could simulate being subdued by a taser as civilians experience it. Part of the reason these demonstrations are done is to show people that tasers are better than guns. Well, obviously. We don't need a demonstration to prove that. But they are primarily they are done so that the police officers can experience the pain for themselves, that way they're not so quick to use it. Unfortunately, few (if any) officers will ever be in a position where they are subdued by a group of other officers, held face down on the ground, and zapped repeatedly.

I do know that the military police must be pepper sprayed/maced prior to being allowed to carry them. While it to is done in a controlled environment, there is not too many "quick fixes" to either of those two, so you get the full on feel of what it is like.

Part of the problem with accepting evolution is that human beings have a very difficult time understand large quantaties of anything. For example, if I told you that I had 1 Billion $1 bills and told you to imagine how much room that would take up, it would be very difficult for you to understand. Now if I said that that amount of money would fill up 1(or 2 or 3) of the following size buildings or football fields, it would be much easier. This inability to concieve such large numbers affects our ability to understand that evolution takes place over MILLIONS of years and that each step is a very miniscule one. Thus it becomes very hard for people to look at a human and a primate and see the tranformational process form one to the other.
Plus the idea of evolution tends to lead to the idea that God doesn't exist, which leads to no afterlife, and humans by nature don't want to accept the idea that when you are dead, that is it, there is no afterlife where you can continue on seeing your loved ones and really bad people will get the "justice" they truly deserve.

I have to believe that this whole thing stems from his middle name. Unfortunately a lot of people associate arabic sounding names such as Hussein, Muhommad, etc as automatically being a muslim. It isn't much different than someone assuming that someone with a last name of O'XXXXXX is part Irish, except that is Obama's case it is being used in a derogative way, ableit being considered Irish to some people would be of the same ilk.

Even Darwin gave cautionary advice to those who followed his thought process' Until we find the origin of man kind there is no proof that we are apes. It seems science has dug up a 4 million year old skeleton that brings our history even closer to that ancestor than ever before, and it's skeleton has a "mix" of ape wrist bones, but the opening in the skull where nerves and blood vessels entered are definitely "human" indicating our brains diverged far longer ago than previously speculated.
